Black Woman: Past Life

I am a Black Woman.

I am in the water washing white cotton in the river.  I am in a shady wooded area shielded from the sun.  The weather is warm and the river slipping by my shins is a relief.

This Black Woman lives inside of me.  She is my Spiritual Council because she walks within my spirit.  I feel her experience inside of me.  She contains so much hurt - gripping, ripping, horror.

But she chooses life inside of her.

She chooses the light inside of her.

The pain which created the light became the salve.

She is who guides me today.

I masquerade as a white woman.

Many don’t know - that underneath my skin, SHE exists.

She is humble and quiet. And unassumingly stronger than most would imagine.

Her presence - undeniable.  Solid. True. A grounded force.

She doesn’t have to tell me her name.  I know.

Journey on foot.  The footprints travel in a path leading from the heartspace to the sun.  From the heart to the light, to ultimate radiance, to enlightenment.
